What's the difference between nursery and preschool?
Preschools usually work around a formal curriculum and trained teachers - making them a little more expensive! Nursery schools are usually a more relaxed learning environment and more flexible enrolment terms. They are also cheaper and vary greatly.

What age is a preschooler? Ages up to 4 is considered preschooler with toddlers are 1 - 3 year old bracket. Basically 4-year-old are not 'toddling' around any more and so are no longer toddlers!

What does preschool mean? A preschool, or nursery school, is a pre-primary school, or play school for early childhood education. Preschool is for children before they begin compulsory education at primary school.

Is Pre K considered preschool? Pre K schools are pre-kindergartens.

Rising Stars Nursery

12 Commercial Rd, Glasgow G5 0PQ, UK – 0141 274 3174

This is a small nursery and doesn't look very fancy at first glance but it has been a wonderful place for my children. It has a small garden, they make regular use of Glasgow Green, they offer special programmes such as football and swimming. The staff are excellent, very flexible and really care about the children. The only thing they don't do well is communicate with patents in an organised, structured way - but I'll take happy kids over a newsletter any day.

Craigholme School

68-72 St. Andrews Dr, Glasgow G41 4HS, UK – 0141 427 0375

I feel I cannot praise Craigholme too highly. It was my great pleasure as a Mother, and as a school nurse of 25 years + standing to visit the school, and they could not have been more accommodating with my requests and arrangements. I have visited more schools, both in the state and independent sectors, then I can remember, and would not hesitate to send my daughter to Craigholme. The Headmistress is everything a parent could hope for, and showed deep knowledge and personal interest in the individual girls whom we met as we looked around. The facilities were impressive; don't be put off by the small size, I think it's one of their strengths. In terms of girls only, again this means there aren't the distraction of boys, and the nonsense of skirts constantly hitched up and thick make-up applied. Also, the number of boys with behavioural issues and challenges is, whether we like it or not, significantly higher then girls. There is also no fear of girls being reluctant to ask for help or to contribute to lessons because of self-consciousness in front of boys, and yes, sadly, that does happen in co-educational schools. I did, sometime back, read a less favourable review, which declined to be explicit about the rationale for its negativity. This is surely unfair, as the school can neither debate nor respond to unclarified issues. It is just important that each person reaches their own views. If you are prospective parents, I would urge you to visit, in the confidence that you will approve, but above all, you are the people who know your own daughter, and will make the best decisions for her. S.C.

Friendly and high performing, our daughters have had a superb education.

Acting Coach Scotland (ACS)

Govan Workspace, 6 Harmony Row, Glasgow G51 3BA, UK – 0141 440 1272

Mark and the coaches were amazing. I was pushed and encouraged to my limits and I always left feeling fulfilled. The knowledge that Mark has is astounding and it's amazing just listening to his advice and perspective. He helped me to refine my skills as an actress, to be aware of what I was doing and why. Hands down, the most talented and knowledgeable coach. You wont regret putting your trust in him.

As an actor and coach, I was looking for a new approach to acting and teaching acting. I discovered Mark’s book on Amazon and was totally blown away by it. It’s the most practical and accessible approach to acting I’ve read. I contacted Mark and we arranged a two day workshop so I could experience the techniques firsthand. It was brilliant, and has completely changed my approach to teaching acting and the results have been extraordinary. I can’t recommend Mark and his teaching enough, truly inspiring!

Dees Dancing

Derek, Alan and Chloe are all absolutely fantastic! We started lessons to learn our Wedding Dance and we are so happy we went with Deesdancing. They are extremely patient, great fun and very professional. We will be joining their classes again once we return from our Wedding.

An excellent atmosphere, patient instructors and a brilliant way for a total novice to get into dancing. Classes are friendly and informative and the teachers are always happy to help with encouragement, instruction and progression. Private tuition and varying levels of ability are catered for brilliantly. A great experience.

Language Schools

Gisoel Glasgow Ltd

12 Waterloo St, Glasgow G2 6JX, UK – 0141 248 7709

In my experience, I enjoyed the course very much, the environment of the class with all my friends, I also liked the activities that we did (speaking and grammar specially), I think that the school need to focus more in listening part, but the best way to learn English is practising, and to practice we need to speak, and I love speaking in this school. Great teachers.

I studied here for 24 weeks. All the teachers are very friendly, sincere and very successful at work. I met with many classmates. My English has improved a lot.
